Amnesty International has raised an alarm about the conditions of detentions in Benin.

According to the organisation’s investigations conducted between June 19 and July 21, 2023, at least 46 prisoners have died in the last seven years due to the harsh living conditions in prison.

The human rights organization is urgently calling for action to improve the prison conditions in Benin.
