Accra will host a high-level ECOWAS extraordinary session from April 22 to 23, 2025, focusing on resolving tensions with Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The summit marks President Mahama’s first major regional engagement since returning to office and comes as ECOWAS approaches its 50th anniversary.
The three Sahel states withdrew from the bloc earlier this year, forming the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) following successive coups.
Mahama, who has been at the forefront of mediation, aims to foster renewed dialogue and cooperation between ECOWAS and the AES bloc.
