In Benin, the Defense and Security Forces have thwarted a terrorist attack targeting their position at the Pendjari Lodge in the northern part of the country.

Authorities say a swift and coordinated response, supported by air assets, enabled security forces to neutralize 17 assailants during the operation.

Military officials noted that the intervention reflects efforts to strengthen the security apparatus deployed in northern Benin to counter the persistent terrorist threat.

However, the operation claimed the life of one Beninese soldier, as the army reaffirmed its determination to continue the fight against armed terrorist groups.
