Authorities in Côte d’Ivoire have intensified efforts to combat the illegal use of butane gas as fuel in vehicles, a practice increasingly adopted by some taxi drivers.
Officials warn that using butane gas in vehicles poses serious safety risks to both passengers and the general public.
During a recent operation in Akoupé and Abengourou, authorities seized nearly 1,800 gas cylinders as part of measures aimed at curbing the practice.
The operation forms part of broader efforts by authorities to enforce safety regulations and discourage the dangerous use of butane gas in transport.
