In Nigeria, the House of Representatives has begun deliberations on plans to provide legal backing for the country’s national decarbonisation strategy.

Lawmakers say the proposed framework is intended to strengthen climate governance and guide Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner energy.

The initiative also seeks to align the country’s environmental policies with broader global climate commitments.
