Burkina Faso is turning the page on festive celebrations marking March 8, International Women’s Day.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Family Affairs, Pélagie Kaboré, who indicated a shift in how the day will be observed going forward.
According to her, March 8 will now be dedicated to initiatives across the country’s 17 regions aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment.
She says the new approach is designed to prioritise practical support and long-term impact over ceremonial activities.
