Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has announced January 16, 2027, as the new date for the country’s next presidential election.
The poll was initially slated for February 20, 2027, but electoral authorities confirmed the adjustment on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The last presidential election in 2023 brought President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to office, and he is widely expected to seek a second term in the 2027 vote.
