Tensions are rising in the Mano River Union region as Guinea and Sierra Leone face off over a border dispute.
Authorities in Conakry on Tuesday announced the arrest of several Sierra Leonean soldiers, alleging they crossed into Guinean territory without authorization.
Freetown swiftly rejected the claim, insisting its troops were operating within what it considers its sovereign territory.
While protesting the arrests, Sierra Leone says it has activated diplomatic channels to secure the soldiers’ release. Sankulleh Janko reports.
