Senegal Teachers Threaten Strike Over Unmet Demands

In Senegal, the umbrella body of unions in the Education and Training Sector has announced a nationwide work stoppage starting today.

A full strike is scheduled for tomorrow, with additional action planned for Monday, March 2.

The unions accuse the government of inaction in implementing previously signed agreements and honoring commitments.

Among their key demands is the payment of outstanding allowances owed to education workers. Elhadj Malick Youm, National Secretary General of SAEMS, explains.
