President Joseph Boakai has declared that Liberia is in a better state than it was a year ago, outlining what he described as progress across key sectors in his third State of the Nation Address.

Speaking before the legislature, Boakai cited developments in agriculture, infrastructure, education, health, tourism, and the rule of law. He also acknowledged persistent economic challenges while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods and strengthening democracy.

The president highlighted 16 executive orders aimed at governance and socio-economic reforms as part of efforts to stabilise the country and improve public service delivery.

However, his address has drawn mixed reactions, with opposition lawmakers, civil society groups, rights activists, and sections of the public questioning the government’s performance and the accuracy of the claims made in the speech.
