The 39th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union has concluded in Addis Ababa, wrapping up two days of high-level deliberations on the continent’s most pressing challenges.
Beyond the closed-door sessions involving regional leaders, nearly fifty side events brought together civil society actors, policymakers, and development partners to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration.
This year’s central focus was improving access to safe drinking water and sanitation, a priority leaders say is critical to advancing sustainable development and safeguarding public health across Africa.
The summit ended with renewed commitments to peace, security, and stronger cooperation among member states, as leaders pledged to translate discussions into tangible action.
