President Alassane Ouattara has appointed a new government in Côte d’Ivoire, just two days after reappointing Robert Mambé as prime minister.
The reshuffle introduces a historic change with the creation of a deputy prime minister position for the first time. Tené Birahima Ouattara was named to the role while retaining his post as Minister of Defence.
Announced by Presidential Secretary General Masseré Touré-Koné, the move is widely seen as strengthening executive coordination, particularly on matters of security and national stability.
The newly appointed cabinet is expected to hold its first meeting on Saturday, January 24, at the Presidential Palace, where ministers will outline priorities for the months ahead.
