Political reactions are mounting in Benin following the release of provisional results from the January 11 legislative and municipal elections.
Figures published by the Independent National Electoral Commission place the two parties aligned with the ruling coalition firmly in the lead.
The outcome points to a one-party National Assembly, with no opposition representation expected in the next legislature.
While the main opposition party, Les Démocrates, is contesting the results, leaders within the ruling majority have welcomed the outcome as a confirmation of their political dominance.
