Sierra Leone has officially launched its National Day of Remembrance to honor the end of the country’s civil war in 2002.
The day was declared by President Julius Maada Bio as a moment of reflection on the conflict and its lasting impact on the nation.
The initiative stems from a key recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was established to examine responsibility and promote healing after one of the darkest periods in Sierra Leone’s history.
