Canadian mining giant Barrick Gold has announced the gradual resumption of operations at Mali’s Loulo-Gounkoto gold complex, one of the country’s key mining sites.
The decision comes after months of tense negotiations between the company and the Malian government.
Restarting activities at Loulo-Gounkoto is expected to boost Mali’s economy and public finances, given the mine’s significant contribution to national revenue.
