The African Union and ECOWAS have released their joint findings on Guinea’s December 28 presidential election, describing the polls as free, credible, and transparent.

In their report, the two observer missions commended the overall conduct of the vote and the organization of the electoral process across the country.

However, they raised concerns over the disruption of internet connectivity before, during, and after election day, noting its impact on information flow and transparency.

The AU and ECOWAS also called on Guinean authorities to release political detainees and address reported cases of kidnappings involving socio-political actors.
