The Nigerian government has deployed military forces to Kwara State following a deadly attack by bandits that left more than a hundred villagers dead.
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq described Tuesday’s violence as a genocide, speaking late Wednesday after reports confirmed killings in two farming communities.
At least 102 people have been confirmed dead, though local sources suggest the toll could be higher. Authorities say a specialised military unit, Operation Savannah Shield, has been deployed to prevent further attacks.
Abdullahi Hassan reports.
