The summit of heads of state of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) began Tuesday in Mali’s capital, Bamako.
The event was initially scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to the absence of Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who is expected to arrive later.
During the summit, the three leaders are set to inaugurate the AES television station and the Confederal Investment Bank.
Discussions will focus on key areas including defense, development, and regional diplomacy.
