In Burkina Faso, the state prosecutor has requested life imprisonment for Yannick Bougouma, who is on trial for the assassination of former minister Viviane Compaoré.

During the hearing, Bougouma admitted entering the victim’s home in Karpala at night, taking two knives and killing her.

He also acknowledged possessing several items belonging to the victim, including a tablet and a laptop.

A psychiatric evaluation found that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia with diminished judgment at the time of the crime, while prosecutors emphasized the gravity of the case as the court prepares to rule on guilt and sentencing.
