Mali and the United States are renewing political dialogue as both sides move to revive bilateral cooperation.

On Monday, Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop, received Nick Checker, the U.S. envoy for African affairs, for talks focused on restoring security and political engagement.

The visit comes as Washington seeks to reposition itself in the central Sahel through renewed engagement with the AES bloc.
