Ghana is hosting a two-day high-level consultative conference on regional cooperation and security in West Africa, bringing together ministers and security leaders from across the sub-region.
The meeting is focused on building collective responses to growing security challenges, as countries confront rising threats linked to terrorism and instability.
On the first day, security chiefs from Mali, Burkina Faso, Liberia, and Nigeria warned that the global epicentre of terrorism is shifting from the Middle East to Africa.
Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Ablakwa, highlighted the scale of the crisis, noting that an average of 44 people are killed daily in terrorist attacks across West Africa, with about eight attacks recorded each day.
