Nigeria’s Senate has begun a closed-door review of proposed amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act, reopening national debate on electoral реформ and democratic strengthening.
The proposed Electoral Act Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2026 was presented by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Senator Simon Lalong.
Lawmakers are examining changes aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s electoral framework and improving the credibility of future elections.
As deliberations continue, legal experts and members of the public are also engaging in discussions on the implications of the proposed reforms.
