Malian Prime Minister General Abdoulaye Maïga arrived in Conakry on Tuesday for a friendship and working visit, marking a renewed push to strengthen ties between Guinea and Mali. He was received by his Guinean counterpart, Amadou Oury Bah, as the two sides prepared to review key areas of bilateral cooperation.

Their discussions focused on several priority sectors essential to both countries’ economies. High on the agenda was the transport of goods through the Port of Conakry, a critical trade route for landlocked Mali. The leaders also reviewed strategies to reinforce border security, given ongoing regional instability.

Agriculture and livestock—sectors that both nations rely heavily on for livelihoods and food security—were also central to the talks. Officials from both delegations highlighted the need for deeper technical collaboration to boost production and trade.

The visit underscores the longstanding partnership between Guinea and Mali, as both nations seek to enhance economic integration and address shared security challenges. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to shape future cooperation initiatives across the region.
