Senegal has officially launched the Partnership Platform for the Localization of the Sustainable Development Goals, marking a major step toward strengthening national efforts to meet the SDGs. The event took place on Friday in Dakar and followed a mission led by Anacláudia Rossbach, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat.
The new platform is designed to provide technical support and enhance multi-sectoral coordination, enabling targeted communities to better align local development actions with national priorities. It is also expected to serve as a central tool for monitoring progress and ensuring accountability at all levels.
Speaking at the launch, Anacláudia Rossbach emphasized that housing remains a cornerstone of sustainable development. She highlighted the need to advance both housing policy and local-level implementation as key priorities for achieving the SDGs in Senegal and across the region.
With this initiative, Senegal positions itself as a leading example of how countries can integrate local governance, community engagement, and global development goals into a unified framework that accelerates progress toward sustainable and inclusive growth.
