Niger has marked its 5th National Young Leaders Day, bringing together more than 200 young people from across the country for a gathering focused on youth inclusion in governance. The event took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Niamey, amid growing calls for stronger youth participation in national decision-making.
The annual initiative seeks to empower young people to shape policies, contribute to nation-building, and take on leadership roles within their communities. Participants engaged in discussions on civic engagement, innovation, and the evolving political landscape in the Sahel.
Leader d’Afrique, the consulting firm behind the programme, coordinated the event with backing from Niger’s military authorities. Their support, organizers say, reflects a commitment to integrating youth voices into the country’s governance agenda.
The gathering reaffirmed the role of young leaders as key actors in Niger’s future, especially as the nation navigates security, economic, and social challenges in the central Sahel region.
