Morocco has called for an urgent and coordinated response to protect children caught up in armed conflicts.
Speaking before the African Union’s Peace and Security Council during a virtual public session dedicated to the plight of children affected by armed violence, Morocco’s delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm commitment to safeguarding vulnerable minors and urged immediate collective action.
The delegation described the issue as one of the most tragic and overlooked dimensions of Africa’s peace and security challenges. It warned that armed conflicts expose an entire generation to instability, violence, and the breakdown of essential protection systems.
Rabat also underscored the need to strongly condemn the recruitment of child soldiers and the broader impact of conflict on children.
The delegation further urged the inclusion of child-protection components in early warning systems to help detect and address risks at an early stage.
