Police in Ghana’s Eastern Region have arrested 26-year-old Nigerian fugitive Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, who is suspected of abducting and killing a woman and her daughter in Nigeria before escaping to Ghana. He was picked up at Akyem Wenchi near Akwatia after intelligence indicated he was being sheltered by friends.
The arrest comes after a viral video in Nigeria alleged that Fejemirokum abducted and murdered a female Federal Road Safety Corps officer and her daughter in Abeokuta, later transporting their bodies to Osun State. According to Regional Police Commander DCOP Ohene Boadi Bossman, an intelligence-led operation was initiated immediately upon receiving information about his location.
Authorities say the suspect, who had been declared wanted in Nigeria, is currently in custody and will be moved to Accra before being handed over to Nigerian officials. Police have urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
DCOP Bossman also acknowledged the growing presence of undocumented foreign nationals in mining communities but assured the public that intelligence surveillance and targeted operations are ongoing to curb related criminal activities.
