The Gambia and UNICEF have commemorated 60 years of partnership dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of children and young people. The milestone reflects decades of collaboration on health, education, protection, and social development initiatives.
A high-level anniversary event was held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center in Bijilo. The gathering highlighted the progress made through joint programmes and the continued commitment to address emerging challenges affecting children.
Senior government officials, diplomats, UN agencies, civil society actors, and children’s representatives attended the ceremony. Speakers emphasized the importance of sustained investment in child welfare to secure a brighter future for the next generation.
Both the government and UNICEF reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening policies and expanding services that promote inclusive growth, protection, and opportunities for Gambian children.
