In The Gambia, a solemn ceremony was held in Banjul to commemorate victims of the November 11, 1994, incident, during which several soldiers were executed without trial over alleged counter-coup involvement.
The National Human Rights Commission and the Victims and Families’ Foundation led the commemoration, joined by families of the victims, civil society groups, and human rights advocates.
Speakers reflected on the tragedy and called for justice and national remembrance of those killed.
The event reaffirmed ongoing demands for accountability and closure for the victims’ families.
