Nigeria is pushing forward with efforts to strengthen migration governance as experts and stakeholders convene in Abuja to review the National Migration Policy. The updated policy—still awaiting federal approval—aims to make migration safer, more orderly, and more aligned with national development goals.
The review session, organized by the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development with support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), brought together government officials, civil society actors, and migration specialists.
Discussions focused on ensuring that migration contributes positively to development while safeguarding the rights and welfare of migrants.
As WADR’s Uman Umar reports, the process reflects Nigeria’s broader commitment to improving coordination and regional cooperation on migration management.
