Did you know that the Kwane language is gradually going into extinction?
The language is spoken by the Michika people in Adamawa state, North-East Nigeria.
Authorities there have expressed concern over the gradual disappearance of their language, and if steps are not taken, it will become extinct.
Hence, the organization of an annual cultural festival in the Michika locality.
According to them, unless deliberate steps are taken in reviving local languages and culture, it may be difficult for the future generation to imbibe this practice.
