Transparency International has called for the immediate and unconditional release of three journalists currently held in Kollo Civil Prison in Niger’s Tillabéri region.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Nigerien Association for the Fight Against Corruption (ANLC), the organization’s local chapter, condemned the arrests as unjustified and an attack on press freedom.
The group noted that authorities have yet to provide any legal grounds for the journalists’ detention, urging the government to uphold freedom of expression and ensure accountability in its security operations.
