In The Gambia, the Special Select Committee investigating the sale and disposal of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets has charged Sergeant Adama Jagne with contempt of the National Assembly.
The committee accused Jagne—who has appeared before it four times—of attempting to contact or influence potential witnesses linked to the ongoing probe.
Following the charge, Jagne was arrested by the Sergeant-at-Arms and handed over to the Military Police of the Gambia Armed Forces for further action.
Officials say the move aligns with sections 109 and 110 of the 1997 Constitution, as well as the Standing Orders and the National Assembly Powers and Privileges Act.
