Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has uncovered a massive corruption scandal involving the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade program, which allegedly cost the state over US$94 million.
The OSP confirmed that high-profile raids were carried out at the Trassaco residence of businessman Nana Yaw Duodu—also known as Dr. Sledge—and at the East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited.
Officials say luxury vehicles, jewelry, weapons, and property documents were seized during the operation. Duodu, CEO of Goldridge Refinery Limited, was earlier arrested for suspected corruption and failing to meet obligations under Ghana’s Gold-for-Forex and Gold-for-Oil initiatives.
