In Togo, former Prime Minister Komi Sélom Klassou has been elected President of the National Assembly under the Fifth Republic.
His election took place during the second plenary session of the second ordinary session of 2025, held on Tuesday. The session also saw the swearing-in of new members replacing those whose seats were declared vacant due to incompatibility.
Klassou’s appointment marks a significant moment in Togo’s evolving political landscape as the country continues to implement reforms under its new republican framework.
