The U.S. Embassy in Mali has issued a security alert urging American citizens to leave the country due to escalating terrorist attacks.
The advisory follows a surge in assaults by the JNIM armed group, which has intensified operations across several regions in recent weeks. While Bamako’s international airport remains open, the embassy cautioned against road travel, citing frequent ambushes and insecurity along major routes.
For those choosing to remain, the embassy advised developing emergency plans, stocking essential supplies, and preparing to shelter in place. The alert comes as Mali faces a severe fuel crisis that has disrupted economic activity nationwide since early October.
