In Benin, the participation of the Democrats Party in the upcoming presidential election faces renewed uncertainty following the annulment of a key sponsorship form.
The party’s honorary president, Boni Yayi, and its presidential candidate duo have been summoned by the judicial police in connection with the withdrawal of endorsement by MP Michel Sodjinou, just before the submission of candidacy documents.
The development has sparked mixed reactions in Cotonou, deepening tensions around the opposition party’s bid to contest the polls.
