In Mali, tensions are escalating as the National Union of Truck Drivers (SYNACOR) has rejected an apology from Aboubacar Sidiki Fomba, a member of the National Transitional Council and president of its Health Commission.

Fomba stirred outrage after a video circulated online accusing some truck drivers of aiding armed groups by selling them fuel. Though he later apologized, SYNACOR deemed it inadequate and has filed a formal complaint.

The union also announced the suspension of its strike action, pending further developments — a move highlighting growing friction within Mali’s volatile political and security environment.
