Liberian President Joseph Boakai has vetoed twelve legislative bills recently passed by the National Legislature, citing legal and procedural inconsistencies.
In a communication to the House of Representatives on Tuesday, President Boakai noted that several of the bills lacked statutory backing, demographic data, and clear institutional frameworks for implementation.
He emphasized that the proposed legislation conflicted with existing laws and administrative processes, making their execution problematic.
The vetoes have sparked renewed debate in Monrovia over legislative scrutiny and the government’s commitment to effective governance.
