An uneasy calm prevails in Côte d’Ivoire as the presidential campaign enters its fifth day ahead of the October 25 election.

Despite a nationwide ban on protests, opposition groups have called on supporters to continue street demonstrations, demanding an inclusive electoral process and rejecting President Alassane Ouattara’s fourth-term bid.

Authorities say more than 200 protesters were arrested over the weekend for defying the restrictions.

The tense atmosphere underscores growing political polarization as both sides brace for what could be a high-stakes and contentious election.
