The Eastern Regional National Security Coordinator, Francis Annor Dompreh, has vowed a ruthless crackdown on illegal mining activities threatening Ghana’s rivers and forests.
Speaking in Koforidua on Monday, Dompreh described the persistent destruction of water bodies and farmlands as a national security threat requiring uncompromising enforcement.
He outlined new measures aimed at intensifying joint security operations across major mining hotspots in the Eastern Region.
Authorities say the renewed effort underscores government’s determination to safeguard natural resources and restore ecological balance.
