In Côte d’Ivoire, the PPA-CI and PDCI opposition alliance has urged its supporters to continue street protests against President Alassane Ouattara’s bid for a fourth term, despite a government ban on demonstrations.
The rallies, unfolding amid the ongoing election campaign, reflect mounting tensions between the opposition and ruling party ahead of the October 25 presidential vote.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, more than 230 demonstrators were arrested during Saturday’s march in Abidjan and other cities.
Analysts warn that the escalating protests could disrupt the electoral process, raising concerns about stability and fairness as the campaign intensifies.
