Mali’s Directorate General of Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Competition has launched a nationwide operation to regulate fuel distribution and enforce official pump prices.
The large-scale campaign, which began Thursday, targets unauthorized roadside fuel sales and aims to curb the widespread practice of selling fuel in jerrycans.
Authorities say the move is intended to restore order in the fuel market and protect consumers from inflated prices.
The initiative follows recent fuel shortages in several major cities, which have disrupted transport and daily economic activities across the country.
