Burkina Faso’s transitional government has unveiled the Faso Film Fund, a new financing mechanism to support national film and audiovisual production.
With a budget of 1 billion CFA francs, the fund aims to empower local filmmakers and strengthen the country’s position as a hub for African cinema.
Speaking at the launch in Ouagadougou, Culture Minister Gilbert Ouédraogo said the initiative will promote Burkinabe creativity and cultural expression, while Alex Moussa Sawadogo, head of the national film agency, pledged transparent management of the fund.
Filmmakers can submit their projects online between October 8 and November 1, 2025.
