In Mali, the army has reportedly stopped around 70 fuel trucks from reaching Allied Gold’s Sadiola mine, following restrictions imposed by al-Qaeda-linked militants on fuel imports into the country.
Local media say fuel shortages are worsening at the remote mine, located about 650 kilometers from Bamako.
The disruption highlights the growing impact of insecurity on Mali’s mining sector—one of its key economic pillars—amid escalating militant activity across the Sahel.
