Nigeria’s senior oil workers’ union, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN), has suspended its nationwide strike.

The announcement came Wednesday after negotiations with the government and management of the Dangote Refinery.

The industrial action was triggered by allegations of mass dismissal of Nigerian workers by the refinery.

Union leaders say discussions will continue as they push for fair treatment and protection of workers’ rights.
