Ghana’s Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has announced a review of the country’s extradition order alongside plans to establish a special court for illegal mining cases.
The court will focus largely on cases involving foreign nationals, who authorities say have often evaded punishment for engaging in unlawful mining activities.
According to the minister, the reforms aim to strengthen enforcement and close legal loopholes that hinder accountability.
Officials stress that the government is determined to ensure all offenders, regardless of nationality, face justice under Ghanaian law.
