Senegal is grappling with a Rift Valley fever outbreak in its northern Saint-Louis region, with health officials confirming dozens of cases and nearly a dozen deaths.
The disease, which spreads from animals to humans mainly through infected livestock or mosquito bites, has raised alarm among health experts and local communities.
In response, Senegalese health authorities have rolled out urgent containment measures to curb the spread and protect residents in affected areas.
Dr. Abiboulaye Sall, Deputy Regional Director of Health for Saint-Louis, says the strategy focuses on breaking transmission chains through coordinated surveillance and community engagement.
