Liberia’s health authorities are investigating four deaths linked to the Mpox virus. The fatalities occurred at the Starbase Isolation Facility in Monrovia and the Government Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
According to the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), the deceased may have had underlying health conditions, including HIV/AIDS and sepsis. Officials say these co-infections could have worsened the patients’ outcomes.
The development has heightened public health concerns, especially regarding how co-existing conditions complicate Mpox management and control efforts.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as investigations unfold.
