In Mali, the Cybercrime Unit Court has postponed its verdict in the trial of former Prime Minister Moussa Mara until October 27.
During Monday’s hearing, prosecutors requested a two-year prison sentence and a symbolic fine of one franc against Mara.
He faces charges of undermining the credibility of the state and opposing legitimate authority, following a social media post in which he vowed to fight “by all means” for change.
The case continues to draw attention in Bamako, where supporters of Mara have rallied in anticipation of the court’s ruling.
